Our story and approach

Diurna Energy was founded in 2017 by David Muñoz-Andrade to bridge a gap he saw in the market: many organizations wanted to develop clean energy projects, but lacked an independent and experienced partner who understood the technical, regulatory, commercial and community realities of energy in the U.S. and Mexico.

As part of Diurna’s approach and commitment to sustainable development, David founded Fundación Diurna México, A.C., a non profit organization in Mexico that produces educational and community programs such as KidWind Challenge Mexico (renewable energy design challenges for students) as well as community workshops, and teacher/student resources.

Our approach

Independent and client-first – We are not tied to any single technology or supplier. Our role is to help you make the best decisions for your context.

Data-driven, but practical – We use advanced design and analysis tools, but always to support decisions and implementation—not as an end in itself.

Community-rooted – Through Fundación Diurna México we execute programs like KidWind Challenge and community workshops a that engage students, teachers and families in the energy transition. That perspective shapes how we approach project development: with attention to local context, social impact and opportunities to create learning and participation around each project. diurnamx.org

Binational perspective – Experience on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border gives us a nuanced view of policy, regulation and market dynamics, and a network that spans industry, government and education.

Long-term partnership – We aim to build lasting relationships and can support you from the earliest ideas through to Notice to Proceed and project handoff—and, through our foundation’s work, continue contributing to local capacity long after projects are built.
